Nutrition Nurse – Mobile Team for CASI project

Job Summary:

The Nutrition Nurse will support the implementation of community-based nutrition activities through the Mobile Nutrition Team. The position will conduct accurate anthropometric measurements for children under five and pregnant and lactating women (PLWs), identify cases at risk of malnutrition, provide nutrition counselling, facilitate referrals to appropriate health and nutrition services, and follow up on referred cases.

Main Responsibilities:

• Conduct nutrition screening and initial assessments of children under five years of age and pregnant and lactating women (PLWs) according to approved national and project protocols.
• Accurately conduct anthropometric measurements, including MUAC, weight, and height/length, following standardized procedures and ensuring data quality.
• Identify and appropriately classify cases of acute malnutrition based on established national and project guidelines and facilitate timely referrals.
• Provide beneficiaries and caregivers with appropriate nutrition counselling, key nutrition messages, and guidance on recommended nutrition and health practices.
• Facilitate and manage the referral process for beneficiaries requiring further assessment or treatment at appropriate health and nutrition facilities.
• Follow up on referred cases, document referral outcomes, and ensure beneficiaries receive the required services and support.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records of all screenings, measurements, referrals, and follow-up activities.
• Ensure timely and accurate data entry and submission using designated data collection tools and systems.
• Participate in community-based nutrition screening activities and field visits as part of the Mobile Nutrition Team across targeted project locations.
• Support the implementation of Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) activities by delivering key nutrition messages and promoting priority nutrition and health behaviors among mothers, caregivers, children, and households.
• Participate in data collection, surveys, assessments, and research activities conducted under the project, as required.
• Perform any other duties related to the position as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Qualification and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Nursing, or a related health field.
• Minimum 2 year of relevant nutrition screening process experience in a humanitarian organization.
• Prior experience working with humanitarian organizations is preferred.
• Preference will be given to candidates with at least one year of previous experience working with mobile teams.
• Good in written and spoken English.
• Experience with different communities and cultures.
• Participate in data collection studies and research.
• Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Good computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, and Formal email correspondence).

Other Requirements:

• Not an employee of a government agency.
• Must not be a resident physician (medical resident).
• The applicant must be able to travel between governorates.
• The ability to commit to working with AKHS-S during official working hours.
• Availability: Must be fully available and able to start work immediately / within a short notice period.
• Preference will be given to candidates living in the local area.
