Telemedicine ROP Project Officer

Job Summary:

The Telemedicine ROP Project Officer supports SAMS' mission to prevent blindness from Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in high-risk neonatal populations. This dual-role position includes capturing and transmitting retinal images for remote evaluation, educating families, and ensuring timely follow-up.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform high-quality retinal imaging of premature infants using SAMS-designated fundus cameras and upload images to the tele-ROP platform.
• Explain the nature of ROP and potential outcomes to parents and caregivers, reinforcing the importance of imaging and follow-up.
• Coordinate outpatient follow-up at NICU discharge and manage missed appointments (no-show protocols).
• Maintain equipment, troubleshoot minor technical issues, and ensure adherence to screening schedules.

Key Requirements:

• Degree or certification in healthcare (nursing, ophthalmic technology, medical imaging, or public health).
• Experience in neonatal care, pediatric ophthalmology, or patient outreach preferred.
• Familiarity with telemedicine platforms and electronic medical records (EMR).
• Fluency in Arabic required; proficiency in English preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
