Mentor and Coach

Location: Homs

Objectives:

Business Mentor and Coach will work under supervision of Livelihood Project Officer at CS and will be guiding Beneficiaries of Livelihood Activities. He/She will be responsible for conducting job counselling, coaching and training Activities. He/She will help prepare Beneficiaries to think through their motivations for their own business and their expectations from Market and accompany them through business application phase through counselling and motivational tools.

Responsibilities:

1. Livelihoods Counseling:

  • Conduct one to one assessment with livelihood candidates and check their eligibility to criteria.
  • Match applicants with most appropriate livelihood opportunities.

2. Business Development:

  • Conduct business development skills (BDS) training for project participants.
  • Assist recipients in identifying and developing viable business ideas.
  • Guide recipients in conducting feasibility assessments for their business ideas.
  • Support recipients in drafting business plans including coaching sessions in marketing and financial studies.
  • Provide guidance on growth strategies for businesses, including vision, strategy, goals, time management and resource requirements.

3. Entrepreneurship:

  • Facilitate market analysis and identification of market opportunities for recipients.
  • Guide recipients in utilizing marketing fundamentals, tools and strategies (e.g., client profiling, market research, branding, social media plan).
  • Support recipients in establishing market linkages and connecting with potential buyers.
  • Promote innovation and competitiveness among recipients in local market.

4. Life Skills and Employability Skills:

  • Conduct work ethics sessions for internship applicants.
  • Enhance recipients' communication and negotiation skills.
  • Foster teamwork and collaboration among recipients.
  • Facilitate problem-solving and decision-making skills development.
  • Guide recipients in improving time management and organizational skills.
  • Promote stress management and resilience among recipients.
  • Mentoring organization's coaches.
  • Develop a mentoring plan for recipients.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions with recipients.

5. Mentoring organization's coaches:

  • Develop a mentoring plan for recipients.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions with recipients.
  • Provide guidance, feedback and support to recipients.
  • Monitor recipients' performance and progress.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations.
  • Identify areas for improvement and provide relevant resources and tools.
  • Provide feedback for improvement.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • University degree in Economics, business administration, or any relevant field.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel.
  • Relevant experience in business development, life skills and Employability skills training.
  • Strong facilitation and training skills, with ability to engage and inspire recipients.
  • Knowledge of interactive and participatory training methodologies.
  • Good communication and mentoring skills.
  • Familiarity with local context and cultural nuances.
  • Fluency in Arabic – Advanced English is an asset.
