WASH Assistant - Menbij - National position

Job Profile:

Under the direct supervision of the WASH officer, the WASH Assistant provides support in the implementation and monitoring of RI’s WASH activities at all targeted HFs and supported communities, closely monitoring WASH monitors in HFs to monitor water quality, manage healthcare waste, and support infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervision of WASH Monitors in health facilities and following up on daily performance regarding water, sanitation, and hygiene systems.
• Monitoring the implementation of physical, chemical, and biological water quality tests.
• Following up on the operation of water and sanitation treatment systems or medical waste disposal facilities.
• Overseeing the implementation of infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols in health facilities in coordination with IPC committees.
• Monitoring processes of collecting, sorting, and transporting medical waste until final disposal.
• Participating in conducting technical assessments of health facilities to identify water, sanitation, and hygiene needs.
• Contributing to the preparation of engineering designs, drawings, and bills of quantities (BoQ) related to construction, rehabilitation, or renovation works.
• Contributing to training WASH Monitors and health facility staff on infection prevention protocols and waste management.

Person Specification / Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other related field.
• At least 2 years of practical experience in the management of WASH facilities in health care settings or health sectors.
• Experience in the development of health care infrastructure designs, BoQ, and supervising constructions.
• Experience in supervising or following up on field teams.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to prepare accurate technical reports.
• Good computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
