  • Duty Station / Location: The work location is in Aleppo, with a willingness to travel to other governorates (Hasakah, Deir ez-Zor, Idlib) as needed for the project 

Position Summary

The Health and Nutrition Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and monitoring the health and nutrition components of the organization's relief and development projects. The role ensures that health and nutrition activities are delivered effectively and in line with project objectives, donor requirements, and national and international standards (including SPHERE and relevant nutrition protocols). The Coordinator serves as the link between project teams, health and nutrition staff, beneficiaries, and external partners to ensure quality, timely, and accountable service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, and monitoring of integrated health and nutrition activities across assigned projects in line with work plans and timelines.
  • Oversee the delivery of nutrition services, including management of acute malnutrition (CMAM/IMAM), infant and young child feeding (IYCF), and micronutrient supplementation.
  • Ensure health and nutrition activities comply with organizational policies, donor requirements, and national and international standards and protocols.
  • Track project milestones, indicators, and deliverables, and prepare regular progress, activity, and nutrition surveillance reports.
  • Liaise with project managers, health and nutrition staff, field teams, the Ministry of Health, clusters, and partner organizations to align and coordinate activities.
  • Support needs assessments, nutrition screenings, beneficiary identification, and the design of health and nutrition interventions.
  • Supervise, mentor, and build the capacity of health and nutrition field staff, community health workers, and volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate records, data, and documentation for monitoring, evaluation, audits, and donor reporting.
  • Identify health, nutrition, and safety risks and support the development and implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Organize trainings, awareness sessions, and community engagement activities on health, nutrition, and hygiene practices.
  • Assist in budget tracking, procurement of health and nutrition supplies, and resource allocation for project components.
  • Ensure the integration of protection, gender, and accountability considerations into health and nutrition activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, public health, medicine, nursing, or a related field. A specialization in nutrition is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in health and nutrition project coordination, preferably within the humanitarian, relief, or development sector.
  • Knowledge of nutrition protocols (CMAM/IMAM, IYCF), health and safety standards, humanitarian principles, and donor compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with NGOs, international organizations, or in coordination with the Health and Nutrition Clusters is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of health and nutrition programming in emergency and development contexts.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders and communities.
  • Proficiency in project management tools, data collection and reporting, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken) is preferred.
  • Commitment to humanitarian values, neutrality, and the protection and dignity of beneficiaries.

Reporting and Accountability

The Health and Nutrition Project Coordinator reports to the Programs Manager / Health and Nutrition Program Manager and is accountable for the timely and quality delivery of assigned health and nutrition activities, adherence to organizational and donor standards, and the safeguarding and dignity of beneficiaries throughout project implementation.
