Cybersecurity and Technology Facilitated Gender-Based Violence Trainer

Purpose of this Document

This document aims to identify, recruit, and select qualified trainers with demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity, digital protection, and technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) to design and develop a specialized training package and deliver high-quality training sessions to the targeted participants.

The training seeks to enhance participants’ awareness of digital risks, strengthen cybersecurity practices, and equip them with the knowledge and skills required to recognize, prevent, and respond to different forms of online gender-based violence in a safe, responsible, and survivor-centered manner.

Scope of Work and Key Training Areas

The trainer is expected to design and deliver a comprehensive training program based on a practical, participatory,and experiential learning approach (“learning by doing”), in close consultation and coordination with the Violet  Organization team. The training package should cover, but not be limited to, the following areas:

1. Cybersecurity and Digital Protection

  • Introduction to cybersecurity concepts and their relevance in educational and humanitarian settings.
  • Common cyber threats and practical prevention measures.
  • Safe management of passwords, accounts, and digital identities.
  • Phishing attcks, malware, social engineering, and methods for identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Data protection, privacy, and secure information-sharing practices.
  • Safe and responsible use of social media and digital communication platforms.

2. Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV)

  • Introduction to technology-facilitated gender-based violence and its key concepts.
  • Forms of online violence, including cyber harassment, online stalking, digital surveillance, non-consensual sharing of information or images, cyberbullying, and online blackmail.
  • The impact of TFGBV on individuals’ mental health, well-being, participation, and safety.
  • Prevention,risk mitigation, and safe reporting mechanisms.
  • Basic response principles and safe referral pathways in line with safeguarding and “Do No Harm” approaches.

3. Responsible and Ethical Use of Technology

  • Digital citizenship and responsible online behavior.
  • Ethical considerations in digital engagement
  • Building safe, inclusive, and respectful online environments
  • Promoting positive digital practices and awareness of online risks

4. Additional Relevant Topics

  • Any other topics, tools, or emerging trends related to cybersecurity, digital safety, and online protection that may be proposed and agreed upon during the planning phase.

The training should emphasize practical exercises, case studies, simulations, and real-life scenarios to ensure participants can apply the acquired skills effectively in their professional and personal contexts.

Expected Deliverables and Responsibilities

The training service provider shall be responsible for the following:

Developing a comprehensive training package in Arabic and submitting it to the Violet Organization supervisor for review and approval.

  • Designing and administering pre- and post-training assessments (Pre- and Post-Tests) to measure participants’ knowledge acquisition and learning progress.
  • Developing interactive exercises, case studies, and practical activities relevant to cybersecurity and TFGBV.
  • Delivering engaging, participatory, and practice-oriented training sessions for the targeted groups.
  • Preparing and submitting a final training report that includes:
    • Training implementation summary.
    • Analysis of pre- and post-assessment results.
    • Key findings and observations.
    • Recommendations and lessons learned.
    • Identified future learning and capacity-building needs.
  • Performing anyadditional tasks necessary to support the successful implementation, documentation,      and impact of the training.

The trainer is expected to maintain continuous coordination with the Violet Organization team throughout all stages of assignment implementation.


 

Duration and Locations:

The training service provider shall be responsible for delivering the training over three (3) training days within the overall project implementation period

The training activities will be conducted in Northwest Syria, specifically in Sarmada and Aleppo, with the exact dates and venues to be determined in coordination with the project management team and according to operational requirements.

The trainer is expected to ensure full availability and flexibility within the designated project timeframe and to coordinate closely with Violet Organization to facilitate the successful planning and implementation of all training activities.

Required Qualifications

Academic and Training Qualifications

.   A university degree, diploma, or advanced professional certifications in one or more of the following fields

.  Cybersecurity

.Information Technology

. Computer Science

. Information Systems

.  Digital Protection

. Gender and Protection

.Social Sciences

. Or any other related field

  • Proven professional and training experience of at least two years, or aminimum of 25 documented training hours, in one or more of the following areas:
    • Cybersecurity
    • Digital safety and protection
    • Online safeguarding
    • Technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV)
    • Digital rights and online protection
  • Demonstrated understanding of safeguarding principles, confidentiality,survivor-centered approaches, and the “Do No Harm” principle when addressing gender-based violence-related topics.

Preferred Qualifications

.Previous experience delivering training to educators, youth, or humanitarian staff

. Experience in designing interactive and adult-learning-based training programs

. Ability to simplify technical concepts and translate them into practical, accessible learning experiences

. Professional certifications in cybersecurity or digital protection are considered an asset

Note: the above-mentioned key responsibilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department organizational chart.
