Job purpose:
The Advocacy Officer, based in Syria, will support the implementation of World Vision Syria Response’s advocacy strategy under the guidance of the Communications & Advocacy Manager. The role will assist with policy analysis, advocacy messaging, stakeholder engagement, campaign activities, youth councils, and child participation initiatives, ensuring that advocacy work is informed by program evidence, community voice, and child rights priorities. The position will work closely with program teams, partners, and communications colleagues to help raise awareness of key issues affecting children and vulnerable communities in Syria.
Major Responsibilities
Advocacy Strategy and Planning
Stakeholder Engagement
Organize and participate in meetings, events, and dialogues with stakeholders to advocate for children’s rights and social justice, with the support of the Communications & Advocacy manager.
Attend WV advocacy groups meetings, the SIRF and INGOs forum meetings and updates the management on the meetings outcomes and discussions.
Policy Analysis and Research
Campaign Support and Implementation
Communications support
Capacity Building and Training:
Monitoring and Reporting
Knowledge/Qualifications for the Role.
Required Professional Experience
Preferred Education/Degree and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Social Sciences, Law, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse audiences.
Proven ability to conduct policy research and analysis.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders.
Experience in developing and executing advocacy campaigns.
Knowledge of social media platforms and digital tools for advocacy.
Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is an asset.
Works in a systematic and well-organized manner, using own knowledge to deliver on time and to a high standard.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement
Regular travel across program locations inside Syria, estimated at up to 30% of working time.
Travel to Jordan may be required, subject to operational needs & coordination requirements.

Ability and willingness to travel to field locations, including areas with limited facilities and challenging operating conditions.
Language Requirements
Fluent in Arabic and English
