Job purpose:

The PSS Facilitator will play a vital role in delivering structured psychosocial support (PSS) and contributing to case management services for children risk in Aleppo. Operating within World Vision’s protection policies and standards, the Facilitator will conduct assessments, develop tailored intervention plans, provide emotional support, and ensure appropriate referrals to specialized services. Through evidence-based models such as EASE, I Support My Friend, and PM+, the Facilitator will help reduce distress, strengthen coping mechanisms, and promote resilience among vulnerable individuals. This role is essential to fostering safe, inclusive environments and strengthening community-based protection systems.

Major Responsibilities

• Activity:

• Coordinate, prepare, and implement psychosocial support plans for children age (6-14) with the support of the Protection Supervisor for Case management and PSS activities.

• Plan and implement appropriate recreational activities for affected and most vulnerable children.

• Conduct awareness sessions and implement structured and semi-structured psychosocial support activities.

• Ensure that caregivers and target community members are engaged in the project implementation, through effective mobilization and outreach strategies.

• Collect data and prepare weekly and monthly project reports as requested.

• Ensure effective referral pathways are in place for appropriate responses and follow-up for caregivers and young children who require specialized and other services.

• Ensure regular communication with the Protection Technical Unit to integrate appropriate technical priorities in programme design/implementation.

• Provide regular operations and implementation updates on project progress and challenges to allow for timely interventions and corrective actions by management.

• Ensure that project interventions are effectively documented before, during and after the activities.

• When necessary, contribute to relevant assessments and data collection of WV or inter-agency in the project locations, guided by MEAL and/or the technical team.

• Consult and negotiate with local councils to enhance communication channels and positively influence project goals.

• Conduct periodic review meetings with the project team to identify bottlenecks and discuss the ways to address those bottlenecks.

• Ensure project implementation aligns with protection/child protection standards and in collaboration with protection staff.

• Coordinate with all members of the protection team to carry out regular participatory activities with different groups of children and adults, and assist the team in developing appropriate responses.

• Support the line Manager to prepare timely and high quality monthly and quarterly reports in accordance with reporting schedules and formats/guidelines.

• Support the MEAL team to use the specific M&E tools to monitor project progress and results based on the indicators and means of verification defined in the project.

• Work with the MEAL team to enhance accountability mechanisms which facilitate boys, girls and other marginalized groups to report their feedback and complaints.

• Monitor and identify potential risks and threats to the centre activities and alert management timely for appropriate action.

• Networking & External Engagement:

• When appropriate, represent WV in relevant interagency hub-level coordination forums (ECD, CP AoR, MHPSS WG) in the project location.

• Participate in internal meetings and coordinate with other programme/sector teams.

• Establish strong relationships with local key stakeholders and community structures to facilitate the project acceptance and ownership.

• Other:

• Adhere to WV Child and Adult Safeguarding policy and standards.

• Adhere to WV accountability standards.

Knowledge/Qualifications for the Role

Required Professional Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience working in childhood, education and other relevant programmes in development or humanitarian settings.
• Knowledge of principles and programming approaches for working effectively with caregivers and children of young age are essential.
• Proven experience in designing and/or implementing childhood and/or parenting programmes in Aleppo.
• Skills to work with parents/caregivers of children age group.
• Understanding of the interconnections among health, nutrition, education, child protection and how they contribute to childhood development outcomes.
• Experience in implementing multi-sectoral or integrated programmes is an advantage.
• Knowledge of the humanitarian architectures and the cluster approach and the ability to actively contribute to work of the coordination forums.
• Ability and willingness to maintain a regular presence at project sites (remote / field sites) and to work during irregular working hours.
• Good knowledge working with and through local existing structures in Syria.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills – self-motivated. individuals, able to take initiative and propose solutions, resilient, positive, and able to work independently.
• Ability to work as a team player and coach frontline staff in project implementation.
• Experience in implementing and using of WHO Nurturing Care Framework.
• Knowledge and experience in Inter-Agency Cluster/Sector Working Groups and Task Forces.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification:

• Bachelor degree in early childhood development, education, psychology, social work, and other relevant subjects.
• Certification or other recognized courses on early childhood development, Child Protection, Education in Emergencies, parenting skills, MHPSS or other relevant subjects.
• Excellent understanding of the government system and services for age groups in Syria, especially in a humanitarian/emergency context.
• Strong knowledge and awareness of inter-agency tools, guidelines and other resources.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:

• Additional experience with refugees, emergency response and NGO experience preferred.
• Computer skills, in particular email, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Fluency in Arabic required, and ability to write and speak English.
• Good report writing skills.
• Detailed oriented and able to verify data quality.
• Agrees with the mission, vision and core values of World Vision.
• Finds fulfilment in work through creativity, risk-taking, initiative, and innovation, and encourages the same in colleagues.

Language Requirements:

• Excellent written and fluent in speaking Arabic.
• Ability to write very good quality reports in English is required.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement:

• The position requires 90% of the time to be field-based and 10% at office level.
• Position requires willingness and ability to continue to function during a crisis, including during a World Vision response to a manmade or natural disaster.
• The position requires availability and willingness to work outside regular.
