  • Long-Term Impact Interventions: Economic empowerment and local value chain improvements to enable targeted communities to improve their living practices and sustainable mechanisms.

Orange collaborates with various national and international non-governmental organizations, as well as local initiatives, to adopt a community-based approach that improves response impact and provides sustainable, alternative solutions.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide individual and group psychosocial support (PSS) services within a mobile mental health clinic. This includes delivering awareness-raising and psychoeducation sessions for individuals experiencing stress and psychological distress, with a focus on vulnerable and high-risk groups.

The Psychosocial Support Worker contributes to focused, non-specialized psychosocial interventions within the lower levels of the IASC MHPSS intervention pyramid. Responsibilities include conducting needs assessments, developing participatory support plans, implementing PSS activities, and facilitating safe internal/external referrals while maintaining strict confidentiality, dignity, and professional ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Referral Coordination: Coordinate with other service providers and organizations to ensure an effective referral pathway; regularly update service mapping information.
  2. Biopsychosocial Assessments: Conduct comprehensive assessments for beneficiaries to identify priority needs for response.
  3. Consultations: Provide PSS consultations via mobile teams or fixed centers, in accordance with guidelines approved by the MHPSS Working Group in Northwest Syria.
  4. Recovery Planning: Support beneficiaries in developing participatory recovery plans with step-by-step goals based on needs, problems, and strengths, followed by continuous monitoring.
  5. Psychoeducation: Provide essential mental health education to beneficiaries, caregivers, family members, and the wider community.
  6. Community Outreach: Visit beneficiaries in their locations to raise awareness, deliver psychosocial support, and provide Psychological First Aid (PFA).
  7. Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration: Link beneficiaries to higher-level counseling or specialized interventions when required, collaborating directly with mhGAP doctors and other specialized team members.
  8. Data Confidentiality: Maintain absolute confidentiality of all data documented in assessment forms and clinical records (both paper and electronic) while ensuring high-quality documentation.
  9. Awareness Advocacy: Participate in individual and community-level awareness campaigns regarding MHPSS issues, suicide prevention, and the rights of persons with mental health conditions.
  10. Technical Supervision: Participate actively in ongoing individual and group technical supervision sessions.
  11. Capacity Building: Attend mandatory training sessions and workshops to continuously develop professional and personal skills.
  12. Risk Management: Work closely with the Team Leader and Technical Supervisor to manage critical and high-risk cases, particularly suicide attempts.
  13. Reporting: Provide regular weekly and monthly updates and reports to the Team Leader and Technical Supervisor.
  14. File Management: Properly close beneficiary files upon completion of services in accordance with the organization's approved forms and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Mandatory university degree, preferably in Sociology or Psychology.
  • Core Experience: At least one (1) year of experience in the same position, with proven experience in psychosocial support activities, handling sensitive/critical cases, and maintaining strict privacy.
  • Language: Arabic language fluency is a must.
  • Skills: Proficiency in computer and technology applications, effective communication skills, and the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
